One reason I had never seen this film until now was the title: it just didn’t sit well with me, it put me off. Not a good reason. Yet what repelled me in the title only became amplified in the film, though I do also like to have my expectations overthrown.

I consider it a failure as a film but worthy of thought in light of its historical significance and acclaim, and in that regard I plan to come back to the theme in a future entry.
